Als gezonde schakel zorgen we ervoor dat betaalbare, lokale, biologische en geredde groenten, fruit en kruiden beschikbaar zijn voor sociale voedselinitiatieven en huishoudens met een kleine portemonnee.
Het distributiecentrum van Boeren voor Buren bij Stadslandgoed 937 speelt een cruciale rol in het verbinden van gezonde voeding met de gemeenschap.
Hierbij gaan we te werk met groente en fruit die er vaak wat anders uitzien, maar nog even lekker smaken. Door het distributiecentrum te vestigen op het Stadslandgoed, kan Boeren voor Buren efficiënt lokale en geredde producten verzamelen, sorteren en distribueren, waardoor we de toegang tot hoogwaardige voeding vergroten en tegelijkertijd duurzame praktijken bevorderen.
Stichting Boeren voor Buren levert sinds 2020 groente, fruit en kruiden tegen een lage prijs aan inwoners met een kleine portemonnee, in Amsterdam. Als non-profitorganisatie vinden wij het belangrijk om ons in te zetten naargelang de maatschappelijke noden. Daarnaast weten we dan ook waar het kritische turning point zit om onze organisatie duurzaam uit te breiden en nog meer huishoudens te kunnen voorzien van betaalbaar, gezond en lokaal voedsel.
In het najaar van 2023 hebben we de stap gezet naar ‘De Gezonde Schakel’ voor sociale voedselinitiatieven en individuele huishoudens met een kleine portemonnee. Hiermee ondersteunt Boeren voor Buren de voedselzekerheid. Aan de ene kant helpen we gezinnen die net buiten de boot vallen voor traditionele voedselhulp, door hen groente- en fruitpakketten aan te bieden tegen lagere prijzen dan in de supermarkt. Aan de andere kant ondersteunt Boeren voor Buren ook de sociale voedselinitiatieven, die wat extra hulp nodig hebben in de voorziening van groente, fruit en kruiden.
In het assortiment van De Gezonde Schakel zit een seizoensselectie van lokaal geproduceerde en internationaal biologische of geredde groente, fruit en kruiden. Voor beide afzetkanalen biedt de webwinkel de mogelijkheid om online te bestellen.
Vervolgens wordt er aan sociale voedselinitiatieven geleverd of ze halen het zelf op bij het distributiecentrum. Individuele huishoudens halen hun besteld pakket op bij een buurthuis, gerund door vrijwilligers.

We work with fruit and vegetables that often look a little different, but taste just as good. By locating the distribution center on the Stadslandgoed, Boeren voor Buren can efficiently collect, sort and distribute local and rescued products, increasing access to quality food while promoting sustainable practices.
Boeren voor Buren has been delivering vegetables, fruit and herbs at a low price to residents with a lower income, in Amsterdam, since 2020. As a non-profit organization, we believe it is important to engage according to social needs. In addition, we know where the critical turning point is to sustainably expand our organization and provide even more households with affordable, healthy and local food.
In the fall of 2023, we changed to “De Gezonde Schakel” (The Healthy Chain) for social food initiatives and individual households with a lower income. Boeren voor Buren supports food security. On the one hand, we help families who are just outside the box for traditional food aid by offering them fruit and vegetable packages at lower prices than in the supermarket. On the other hand, Boeren voor Buren also takes care of social food initiatives, which need a little extra help in providing vegetables, fruit and herbs.
The Healthy Chain assortment includes a seasonal selection of locally produced and internationally organic or rescued vegetables, fruit and herbs. For both clients, the online store offers the ability to order online.
Next we supply social food initiatives or they come and collect it themselves at the distribution center. Individual households pick up their ordered package at a community center, run by volunteers.
